Case Study Questions:

1. Why did the IT group at Royal Caribbean have such poor performance and business status in the company?

----->_The reason why the IT group at Royal Caribbean have such poor performance and business status in the company is because they don't use new IT strategies in running their organization. In short, its just like a traditional '70s data processing shop before, its the main reason why Murphy transform the organization. Another thing is that around in their department was two opposing "mafias" --Cuban and African American-- controlled the data center and the networking group .

2.What are the top three factors in Tom Murphy's turnaround of the IT function at Royal Caribbean? Explain the reasons for your choices.

----->_The three factors in Tom Murphy's turnaround were:
a. communication
_he communicates all the time to his employees once they encounter some problems, in this way they can easily find a solution to it, so no one can use information as a weapon cause he keeps on communicating the same message and the same goals to everyone.

b. Metrics and time
_
they spend a lot of time with their vendors and make arrangements for training and travel. He has established very specific performance measures to let his managers know exactly what's expected of them.

c. Respect
_because of the respect he has given to his co-workers, there's no misunderstanding happens. Also, this new respect makes the IT team proud of itself.


3.Visit the website of Royal Caribbean. Evaluate the effectiveness of the website and the services being offered to attract and serve the travel needs of costumers and prospective costumers. What could be improved? Outline the business impact of your idea.
----->_When I visit the website, I found out that they offer cruise tours in different destinations. You can see there some of their intended activities during the cruise and I can say that it can really attract costumers. Some of the services they offered are the ff.:
_shop gifts & gear
_different events during the cruise
_royal reunions
_experienced cruisers & a lot more
I think there's nothing to be improved cause once you visit in their website you can easily understand the services they offer.
