Exercise 2

Case Study Question:

1. How well is IT supporting the business goals of BellSouth? Explain.

----->Information Technology supports the BellSouth
very well, in a way of having a Broadband Ordering System. This Stategy significantly cut the overall business operations budget by lowering per-subscriber ordering costs by more than 50 percent. IT gave the new subcribers of BellSouth's website to order and even self-install the software they would need to get up and running on the new ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) "Fast Access" high-speed Internet service. Because of the support given by IT to BellSouth , it attracts lot's of costumers to use BellSouth in their way to subscribe in different software applications.

2. Is BellSouth's technology transfer map a good way to determine IT invesment priorities? Why and why not?

----->Yes,the BellSouth's technology transfer map is a good way to determine IT invesment priorities because the road map identifies and prioritizes "leverageable" systems, defined as those that the businesses need to run and enhance their revenue generating operations and therefore of highest priority for IT development, in contrast to this is the "Nonleverageable" systems that are more traditional "legacy" systems earmarked for retirement in the near future.

3. What else could BellSouth do to guarantee the strategic business value of potential IT investment projects? Visit their website for ideas. Defend your proposals

----->There's a lot more that the BellSouth can do to guarantee the strategic business of potential IT investments projects such as it can make the IT more known when it comes to networking.
On the other hand IT can provide information that leads to reduced costs and higher sales, it's hard to attach a dollar value to the gains data warehouses offer because other processes must be improved to get the benefits. Companies continue to introduce strategic data warehouses--such as those that can identify their most profitable customers--without calculating their potential ROI, but many are looking for a hard-dollar return on data warehouses that help improve operational efficiency, the people can based this to the BellSouth Corporation.
